English 7

Course Overview

Welcome to English 7. Language is the wonderful gift God gave us to build relationships; with Him and with one another. This year, we are going to use language to express thoughts and questions we have about God, our identity, and our place in this world.

Over the course of English 7, you are going to closely examine the question, “Who Am I.” It is so important for you to know and embrace who you are in Christ so that you can live with purpose. Along this journey you will explore other questions too, including

  • Who do others think I am?
  • What is my ‘voice’?
  • How do I express myself?
  • How can I use my voice to help others?
  • Change starts from within - stand up for yourself -> stand up for others
  • How can I use my voice to stand up for what is right?

As you inquire about these questions you will learn how to think, plan, create, question and reflect so that you can develop deep understandings. We are so excited to go on this journey with you and look forward to seeing the discoveries that you make.

Synchronous Option Available

This year we are piloting a synchronous option in this course. Students who choose this option will meet as a group with the course teacher via online video conferencing as a group with with the course teacher at a set time each week. The group will preview the week’s assignment and discuss any issues or questions. This option is designed to develop community, go over each week’s lesson briefly, ask questions, share work, get feedback, and support each other. We are very excited to offer this new feature and anticipate great success! Please and keep in mind that registration is limited this year, but we do hope to expand in the future.

Please email Pat Mackesy if you have any questions: pmackesy @ onlineschool.ca.
