Virtual Worlds 6

Course Overview

The IMT 6 program integrates the following four subjects; Science, Language Arts, Bible, and Applied Skills & Technologies. There is a designated time for students and the teacher to meet once a week to discuss the current assignments and have plenty of time to ask questions. We regularly meet in Zoom and 3DU. In 3DU students will create their own avatar and complete various quests and missions. We will also be using other great and fun programs, which will be provided throughout the year.

The focus of assignments is more on quality then quantity. Students will be given in depth feedback on their assignments and are encouraged to edit their work after this feedback.  Students are encouraged to bring their creative touches to their assignments. There are parameters for each assignment however, many of these assignments have a wide variation for a student’s creative exploration.

Regardless of a student’s technical background, IMT accommodates and supports learning through the assignments and any technical issues. Students regularly get together in 3DU to support, encourage and socialize.

Students comfortably complete all assignments spending 1.5 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Processor Speed: 2 Ghz or better
System RAM: 2 GB or more
Free Disk Space: 50 GB+
Operating System: Windows 7, 8.1, or 10
Video Driver DirectX® 9.0c or newer
Video Card Hardware accelerated 3D graphics (256MB+ VRAM) is highly recommended
Media Viewer Windows Media Player

MAC users

Processor Speed: Minimum i5 Dual Core 3.0 GHz processor. Recommended, i7 Quad Core 2.5 GHz.

Hard Drive: Minimum 256 GB. Recommended 512GB.
Operating System: Mac OSX 10.6.8 or later (Snow Leopard or newer).

Please be aware that Apple updates to the MAC Operating System (OS) may preclude non-Apple products from working. This is why the PC platform is preferred. Updates to Windows will grandfather existing pieces of software and not present the possibility of a disruption. Having said that, should some resources need to be run under Microsoft Windows, Windows can be installed on a Mac. 2 popular methods are Parallels, and Bootcamp. Here’s an article on the subject www.theverge.com/2015/7/29/9058825/windows-10-macbook-how-to-install-osx

All other materials are provided for in Moodle. Students may want access to a printer but this is not required.
